Today's post is featuring Waterfall II quilt pattern with the fabrics in the reverse order, from dark to light; the opposite of how the pattern is written.

This fabric collection is Moda Grunge. The subtle variation in colors in each print really bring depth to quilts that isn't achieved with solids.

Summer Sewing! from The Modern Diary

I have not been sewing too much this summer. Playing lots of games and reading lots of books instead. Barb keeps on trying to get me in the sewing room and thankfully she was successful a few times! I sewed up these easy hand warmers to give to Kathy at Christmas time (and who knows who else). I made some when we were in Arizona and sent them all back here, but we did not need any at the time.

Working on UFOs from Grandma's Red Needle

My oldest (quilt) UFO; Got the Blues, (#8 on my UFO list) is currently under the needle!

I made the first blocks February 2012! It's time to get it done, isn't it?!

I don't have any other updates on this one. It was thread basted last year, and since then; just sitting there waiting for thread and decision how to quilt it.

Yesterday I quilted about 1/4. It's a big quilt to maneuverer even with the 10" working area on the machine. The quilt measures about 84 x 96 inches / 213 x 243 cm

Vergangenes Jahr hatte ich das Glück, an einem sehr schönen Nähwochenende teilnehmen zu dürfen. Dazu mitgenommen hatte ich verschiedene Projekte, von denen ich eigentlich tatsächlich nur an einem aus lauter Lustgewinn gearbeitet habe. Ich hatte mir eine Menge Log Cabin 6,5" Inch FPP ausgedruckt und eine Kiste mit den bunten Reststreifen mitgenommen. So entstanden 28 fertige Log Cabin Blöcke. September Results from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

October 1 .... the year is just zipping by much too quickly.

September was a good month for me, after all. I was busy with wedding clothing alterations and helping out with rehearsal dinner and wedding brunch. Glad that is over.

Log Cabin and Enough! from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

This is the UFO that I've decided to finish for my BIL. There are quite a few pieces already made and it won't take too long to see progress.

As I'm cutting out for some of the blocks, I'm also cutting out pieces to make another of this quilt for my sister. It will be queen size and will need lots and lots of wee blocks. The pattern is called "Fragments of Cloth" by Norma Whaley. So win-win. Use up scraps and stash for both projects!

Quilts in Demand from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

My little great nieces have each separately asked me for another quilt. So, guess what I will be doing next year for their birthdays. Something simple and I will be going through my mags and Pinterest photos for some ideas.

Then my sister asked if I had a spare queen size quilt for her husband. I looked but none that are masculine. Then, going through my ufo's, there are two that can made into that size. So, he will be getting this one .....

A variety of things.............. from Exuberant Color

I sewed a few samples of the other block on the die I showed recently. It is similar to the Fractured series of quilts I made several years ago. There is a Label for Fractured in the label list on my right sidebar. The difference being the angle is the same on every block with the die and the angles varied with the 2 methods I used on the other quilts.

I emptied another project box. I think these are the leftovers from this quilt top. I'm pretty sure I have another location where I have 1.5" strips ...

Weekly update: it's a flimsy + a new start from With Strings Attached

After last week's storms it's easy to see why the French explorers called the river "eau pleine," or "water-full." Eau pleine became Des Plaines (a river and a city) and O'Plaine (a road).

I ignored the sign and walked through the puddle on my heels.

That was Saturday's walk at the Des Plaines River Canoe Launch. Sunday was closer to home at Sand Pond.
